WBU students join “See You at the Pole” prayer event Sept. 24

PLAINVIEW — Students at Wayland Baptist University plan to gather at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the campus flagpole in Heritage Circle in front of historic Gates Hall, 1900 Seventh St., to take part in See You at the Pole, a global day of student-led prayer.

The event, hosted by Wayland’s Chapel Prayer Team, brings together students, faculty and staff to pray for their school, community, nation and world. It is part of a worldwide movement that began in 1990 when a small group of Texas high school students felt led to pray around their school flagpole. Since then, millions of students in all 50 states and more than 60 countries have participated annually.

See You at the Pole is a beautiful reminder that prayer unites us,” said Donnie Brown, Wayland’s Director of Spiritual Life. “When students gather at the flagpole, they are standing together in faith and asking God to guide not only their campus, but also their communities and the nation.”

Wayland students will join thousands of others around the globe in prayer under this year’s theme, “Awe” drawn from Habakkuk 3:2 — “Lord, I am filled with awe!”

The event is open to all members of the Wayland community. For more information about See You at the Pole, visit .
