PLAINVIEW — Wayland Baptist University’s School of Business is renaming its Doctor of Management program by introducing three new Ph.D. in Management pathways. Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, candidates can pursue a PhD in Management with a focus on one of three concentrations: Organizational Leadership, Human Resources and Organizational Behavior, or a generalized Ph.D. in Management, all of which are grounded in a biblical worldview.
These specializations build on the university’s rigorously Christ-centered approach and cohort-based doctoral model, which offers 60 hours of online coursework that includes four dissertation courses.
“These new specializations provide targeted tracks that allow students to align their doctoral studies with their vocational goals—whether they’re aiming to be organizational leaders, shape human resources, teaching in higher education institutions, or delve into organizational behavior—all while engaging with research through a biblical lens,” said Dr. Jenny Dutton, Associate Dean of the Doctor of Management program.” She underscored the shared commitment: “We believe that integrating faith and scholarship strengthens both the academic experience and professional application.”
Dr. Jason Geesey, Dean of the School of Business, added, “By offering the Ph.D. in Management along with specializations, we’re equipping students with the expertise leaders need in today’s changing business landscape. Plus, maintaining a biblical worldview ensures our graduates lead with character and ethical clarity.”
Wayland’s PhD in Management and its specializations stand out for their online, cohort-based design, allowing students also to earn executive certificates in leadership and HR while pursuing a Ph.D. degree, paving the way for completion in as few as two years.
Enrollment for the new Ph.D. in Management tracks is now open. Interested students can learn more by consulting the School of Business or by referring to Wayland’s 2025–2026 university catalog. The catalog outlines degree requirements, course sequences, admission criteria, and program objectives.
