Assistant Coordinator of Athletic Media Relations & Marketing
LOCATION: Wayland Baptist University (WBU) – Plainview Campus

SUPERVISED BY: Coordinator of Media Relations & Marketing for Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletic Director

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Coordinator of Athletic Media Relations & Marketing assists with the general areas of responsibility including providing pertinent university information to national and conference offices, opponents, Wayland constituent groups, and news outlets. Assist with the branding, marketing, advertising, promotions, social media, and duties assigned to the Office of Sport Communication and Marketing.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:
- Serves as an assistant media liaison for Wayland Baptist University athletics.
- Assist with monitoring and compliance with policies and regulations of the NAIA, Sooner Athletic Conference and the university as they relate to sports statistical information and publications.
- Assists in the media areas of all campus athletic venues and assists with game management personnel.
- Assist with the development, coordination, and execution of a comprehensive marketing plan for intercollegiate athletics.
- Assist with the brand strategy across multiple content platforms including print, digital and broadcast mediums.
- Assist with the supervision of the university athletics website.
- Assist with the design and implements a comprehensive social media strategy that includes Facebook, X, and YouTube.
- Assist with the tracking of expenditures and revenue of the Media Relations and Marketing Budget and recommends future needs and updates.
- Assist with the collaboration with other departments to implement promotional activities for each sport designed to increase fan interaction and attendance.
- Assist with the Sports Information & Communications and various students assigned to the office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is assumed. Equivalent professional background and field experience may be acceptable.
- Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Five (5) years of progressive experience in sports information, communications, marketing and promotions.
- Knowledge of social media, digital and e-mail marketing strategies and applications.
- Working knowledge and experience in athletic statistical applications.
- An understanding of graphic design principles and practices.
- Knowledge of journalistic writing and reporting techniques to include proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent PC skills that include Microsoft Word, StatCrew, DakStats, Adobe InDesign and Sports Statistical Software.
- Work a flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Possess good oral communication skills and be able to communicate with a variety of constituents.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish their identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle and possess a valid state driver’s license or have access to reliable transportation. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
